HADITH & SUNNA

Human Inventions That Replaced God’s Religion With Cultural Tradition

The Quran teaches that God revealed a complete, perfect, and fully detailed scripture (6:114, 16:89). It also teaches that the only duty of the prophet Muhammad was to deliver the message (42:48, 5:92, 21:10).

After the prophet’s death, however, a new religious authority gradually emerged—not based on the Quran, but on collections of hearsay reports known as Hadith and Sunna. These human-made sources became the primary cause of corruption in the religion originally centered on worshiping God alone.

What Are Hadith and Sunna?

Hadith are sayings, stories, or claims attributed to the prophet Muhammad long after his death—compiled more than two centuries later. Sunna refers to ‘the way of the prophet,’ built on the same hearsay reports.

Together, they form a parallel religious authority that often overrides the Quran.

The Quran Warns Against Following Any Other Source

The Quran repeatedly commands believers to uphold God alone as the source of law:
• “Shall I seek other than God as a source of law?” (6:114)
• “The Quran is fully detailed.” (6:114, 41:3)
• “Follow what is revealed to you from your Lord.” (6:106)
• “Nothing shall abrogate His words.” (18:27)
• “Verify everything.” (17:36)

Hadith and Sunna violate these commands by creating new laws and doctrines.

Hadith & Sunna Invent New Laws

Hadith-based religion introduces commands, prohibitions, rituals, and punishments that are not found in the Quran. It elevates human authority and creates sectarian divisions. In effect, Hadith and Sunna replace God’s law with human law.

Why Were Hadith Invented?

Historically, Hadith emerged due to political influence, evolving customs, scholarly arguments, and community pressures. Over time, they became a legal system and cultural identity, replacing the simplicity and purity of the Quranic message.

Hadith Literature Contradicts the Prophet’s Mission

The Quran describes the prophet’s mission as delivering the message, reciting the revelation, warning, and giving good news. He was commanded to follow only what was revealed to him (10:15). He had no authority to add or change divine law (69:44–47).

Hadith literature contradicts this by presenting the prophet as a lawmaker outside the Quran.

The Return to Human Authority

Hadith and Sunna reinstituted a system of religious authority based on scholars, storytellers, and judges. People stopped going directly to God and His scripture and instead relied on human intermediaries. The Quran describes this as idolatry: obeying humans over God.

Most People Are Unaware of the Problem

The Quran teaches that many people follow inherited beliefs (43:22), accept hearsay without verification (17:36), obey religious authorities blindly (9:31), and believe they are guided while misled (18:103–104). This explains why Hadith-based religion became a false god for many.

The Quran Restores God Alone

To return to the religion of Abraham, the Quran calls for:
• upholding God alone as the legislator
• following the scripture alone
• rejecting innovations and traditions
• verifying all information
• treating the Quran as complete and perfect

A God-centered religion must be rooted in God’s revelation alone.

Conclusion

Hadith and Sunna became the greatest false god within Islam by replacing the Quran with human tradition. The religion shifted from God Alone to God + humans, from Quran Alone to Quran + Hadith. The Quran warns against elevating any human word beside God’s. The path back to purity lies in returning to the Quran alone.
